“The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.” — Proverbs 28:1
There is nothing inherently wrong with anonymity. Genuine whistleblowers, victims of abuse and vulnerable people may have entirely legitimate reasons to protect their identities.
But anonymity becomes something very different when it is weaponised against people who are provably innocent—when it is used to spread horrendous false accusations and sustain a smear campaign driven by psychopathic levels of murderous animosity.
Anonymity stops being protection when people:
- hide behind pseudonyms while maliciously attacking identifiable individuals in public;
- attempt to destroy reputations, livelihoods and relationships out of spite;
- target families and children;
- circulate personal information;
- encourage dogpiling and intimidation; and
- feed false allegations to the media.
At that point, anonymity is no longer a safeguard for the vulnerable. It has become a shield from accountability, scrutiny and transparency.
This distinction matters enormously when examining the hate and smear campaign against Lighthouse Global—and the central role played by Richard Thomas, alongside his wife, Antonia Brider-Thomas.
Since February 2021, anonymous and pseudonymous accounts have issued statements that—ironically—demand transparency and accountability from Lighthouse Global. Yet the same fake whistleblowers have repeatedly attempted to conceal themselves behind fabricated identities.
Lighthouse Associates have overwhelmingly done the opposite.
We put our names to what we say.
Our articles are published openly.
We speak publicly.
Our meetings are recorded.
Our communications and evidence are preserved so that the record remains accurate, complete and true.
When we make serious claims, we are prepared to stand behind them, evidence them and be scrutinised for them.
The BBC knows this all too well. It received thousands of pages of stolen meeting records and many hours of Lighthouse audio. Yet, despite possessing this vast body of material, it had to isolate and manipulate tiny percentages of it to manufacture a false “cult” narrative.
The BBC cannot tolerate the fully evidenced reality being presented: the facts, the complete context and the preserved record that exposes what was omitted and distorted.
Readers do not have to agree with our work or conclusions. But they know exactly who is speaking—and they can examine what we place on the record.
So one pertinent question must be asked:
If Lighthouse Global is supposedly a secretive organisation terrified of scrutiny, why do its critics so frequently hide behind pseudonyms while directing unevidenced, unjustified and hate-filled smears at identifiable people?
And when an anonymous online group degenerates into an environment of hatred, intimidation, racialised abuse, personal targeting, family stalking and deliberate attempts to destroy livelihoods, another question inevitably follows:
Who takes responsibility for what has been unleashed?
Over the coming weeks, we will examine exactly that.
We will look behind the aliases, examine the posts and show how the internet was weaponised against Paul S. Waugh, Lighthouse Associates and their families. We will place the evidence beside the falsehoods and expose the gulf between what was alleged and what the record proves.
And we begin with one pseudonym in particular—an account that became a central agency in the hate and smear campaign against Lighthouse and its people:
u/Fagins_nemesis
The person behind that account was eventually exposed, publicly challenged and compelled to acknowledge their identity.
Richard Thomas.

The distinction between legitimate anonymity and anonymity weaponised to avoid accountability is absolutely crucial, and I strongly agree that transparency means little if those making serious accusations refuse to stand behind their own words. I also really appreciate the emphasis on evidence, openness and putting the full record on the table, because truth should be able to withstand scrutiny. The exposure of the pseudonymous activity surrounding Richard Thomas makes this a compelling and necessary examination of how the internet can be weaponised to attack people, families and reputations.
Fake whistleblowing is such a deplorable and cowardly endeavour. To hide behind a pseudonym while trying to destroy someone else’s or a group’s lives, reputations, livelihoods and opportunities is the mark of the most weak, snivelling, conniving and weasel-like evil. Sadly the cancel culture that’s arisen and become so prominent on the back of promoting such a victim culture with it has proliferated it and made all of society so much worse for it. There ought to be the highest level of taboo attached to it and the deepest levels of shame for anyone revealed to have taken part in it. What amazes me is how much, the more the Establishment and its propaganda mouthpiece the BBC, try to attack and destroy Lighthouse, the more they show themselves to be the real cult and actually how entirely unlike a cult Lighthouse is. For every finger those fake whistleblowers are pointing at Lighthouse, there’s four pointing back at themselves.
As stated here, not all anonymity is bad, but it’s when it is abused and weaponised in an attempt to destroy a group of people who have not done anything they have been accused of. I really appreciate the fact that this is being exposed and shared, and that we will continue to reveal those behind these hateful and malicious smear campaigns against us, with a view to holding them accountable for their actions.
Numerous social commentators have discussed how many people say things behind pseudonyms that they would never have the courage to say in front of the person they are attacking. But few go deeper into the primary malice behind the weaponisation of using a pseuodymn to deliberately attack others for the wrongful vendettas they hold. What makes the predatory trolling of the Reddit forum even worse is that they were given the opportunity to have face to face discussions with Paul Waugh.
It’s infuriating that these cowards hide behind pseudo names so they can spread malicious lies for their own entertainment. It also saddens me because those they attack have their lives destroyed because of one coward. I’m grateful that Lighthouse is fighting and wants to correct the record. God bless you and all of us…
It’s fascinating to see how someone like Richard Thomas makes up his own reality, anonymously attacking those who are transparent and open, and who have given him the support he needed.
He’s hiding behind a pseudonym, smearing people using platforms like Reddit, the dirt bin of the internet, and trying to destroy the lives of people and their families.
It’s crucial to hold those attacking others accountable for their actions, to expose their real identity, and to correct the public record.
Thank you!
As Richard Thomas has demonstrated, he takes advantage and abuses whatever he can, like anonymity, and as he did with the support and care he received at Lighthouse.
The pertinent question asked here is a slam-dunk! The BBC would never allow this question to be asked and answered live and in real-time!
If you have something to say and it is based in truth, why not put your name to it? That is all anyone has to do and if Lighthouse had genuinely made a mistake then we would work to fix it.
It’s a s simple as that! However, when someone wants to slander and smear Lighthouse then they know they are lying and so try and hide.
There are legitimate reasons to protect your identity and then there’s protecting your identity so that you can destroy other’s reputation. This troll behaviour indulges in those dark triad psychopathic, Machiavellian and narcissism. Or shall I say tetrad when you add the sadism of doing harm to others.
I’m not one to say who ought to police anonymity, but the reality of examples like this one with Richard Thomas I would put in the latter category of abusing anonymity for nefarious purposes.
The true guilty parties are hiding behind pseudonyms and the targets – Lighthouse Global, Paul S. Waugh and all Lighthouse Associates – are open and speaking truthfully and transparently. Why are they hiding? Because they know they lied, falsified testimonies, and that time is dead against them.
Anonymity in and of itself isn’t a bad thing. Paul S. Waugh spoke about this with ITV News back in December 2021.
The issue is when it’s used in an attempt to hide from accountabilty.
That said, Richard Thomas, was more brazen than most… ultimately his hatred caused him to do the most foolish and stupid things that have ultimately backfired on him completely.
